Belle:
Love on four legs.
Dear
Friend,
Do you own a Bichon Frise? Are you thinking of owning one?
You know there must be secrets to bringing up the most beautiful and
friendliest dog you'll ever have... and your hunch is dead-on because...
As you read this letter carefully you'll quickly discover how an
easy-to-follow guide is about to teach you ALL you need to know
with training your Bichon Frise.
Because no matter how much experience you have training a Bichon
Frise, or what kind of trouble you'd had with training your dog...
You'll finally learn how to train your Bichon correctly...
while having a blast!
You see, this isn’t some generic€ dog
training information. In fact, this is written ONLY for Bichon
Frise owners. You’ll be discovering secret know-hows most
dog trainers don’t even know about.
Here’s
why:
My
mother, Helen Davis bred and raised Bichon Frises in southwestern Ohio
for 23 years. She practically introduced the breed to this region of
the country, and is responsible directly, or indirectly, for most
of the Bichons in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.
She
absolutely adored these dogs. She often said to me, (sometimes with
tears in her eyes), “You don’t understand.
These are more than just dogs”€.
And
she sure was right. I began to finally understand what exactly
she meant when I started breeding them myself...
Hi Janet,
Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks. Megan is now 5 months
old, and thanks to the tips you gave me she’s been an absolute
joy. My friends and family just love her.
Lisa Miller,
Hamilton, Ohio
PS.
You’re right. That “secret weapon” is a life saver.
Out of
Mum's second litter I picked out Belle€ to keep for myself and
gave "Buttons" back to my mother where she could retire in the familiar
surroundings of the farm where she’d been raised.
Along
the way she introduced me to her trainer and groomer.
I
had stumbled onto my own personal group of professionals who were
willing to teach me EVERYTHING they knew!
They were
guiding me almost 24/7.
answering
my toughest questions giving me powerful tips.
teaching me practically everything they knew about Bichon Frise.
I
don’t know if was just “dumb luck”€ or
divine intervention but Belle turned out to be a very special dog.
She became
much more than a pet.
She
became my friend.
It was
with Belle that I learned what amazing dogs Bichon Frise truly are.
Here’s
some of what I discovered;
Bichon
Frise are highly intelligent dogs.
Belle is the only dog I’ve ever seen that
learns by watching as opposed to being taught everything.
Here’s
the story:
Our Border
Collie had terrible hay fever. So he sneezed a lot. He sneezed on
several occasions while I was giving him and Belle a treat.
Soon after, whenever Belle wanted a treat she would walk up to me
and sneeze!
This
kind of intelligence can be very positive, but it has its
drawbacks as well.
An
intelligent dog is often easier to train but it can also
make the dog very headstrong€.
Because A Bichon Frise can be manipulative and stubborn you need to
start training them immediately!
The trick is to be consistent in their discipline and
let them know you mean what you say.
From
Belle’s third litter we kept Annie.
Belle was
so easily trained I was caught a little off guard by Annie.
Annie was a more typical Bichon. Many Bichon Frise can be difficult,
and that was Annie. She was timid, and stubborn which made
her tough to train.
Annie
would;
Bark at
every little noise she heard.
Go CRAZY
whenever someone came to door and jump all over them.
I know she thought she was just being friendly, but it was very
annoying!
Chew on my fingers.
Chew on the furniture.
And (yuck!) she was eating poop!
But by
digging from the bag of tricks and techniques I'd learned from
my mother, and from having raised three litters of pups myself I
was able to break Annie of all of her bad habits.
Janet,
I wasn’t sure if a Bichon Frise was right for me. But, after
reading your book I decided to get one. Thanks to your advice I was
able to find a great breeder and got the “pick of the
litter”. When I take him for walks my neighbors always comment on
what a beautiful dog he is.
Thanks a bunch,
Sandy Cavender,
Akron, Ohio
Next came
Walker.
We came to
calling him "Wild Man" Walker.
Full of “spit and vinegar” Walker was a handful.
He was energetic and curious to a fault and it took everything I
knew and then some -- to get him under control. He was about 6
months old when we got him, and had had very little training.
Now he is my husband’s best friend - following him everywhere he
goes and obeying his every command.
